Terms and Conditions

1. General

1.1 The Flamstead Book Festival (“Books in the Belfry”) is being run for the benefit of FOSL (Friend’s of St Leonards), registered charity number 1074485. All net proceeds will be donated to FOSL, unless clearly stated otherwise. The names of the organisers and their contact details can be found here. Subsequent use of “we” and “us” in this page refers to the organisers.

2. Disclaimer

2.1 All information on this website and other materials is provided by the organisers. It is published in good faith and believed to be correct at the time of publication, but we can take no responsibility for errors and omissions. We will not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss or damage arising from incorrect or misleading information.

2.2 We reserve the right to make changes to the programme. The website is updated regularly and you are advised to check it for any changes that may affect you. If there are significant changes we will notify you by email providing we have your email address.

3. Ticket Availability and Refund Policy

3.1 All tickets are subject to availability. There is a capacity for each session and once this is reached no more tickets will be sold. There is a fixed price for each ticket regardless of age or any other factor.

3.2 All tickets are unreserved although some may be allocated by the organisers.

3.3 We do not have a real-time ticketing system but the website is regularly updated. In the unlikely event that tickets had sold out when you placed your online order, you will be contacted as soon as possible and the amount you have paid for unavailable seats will be refunded.

3.4 In the event of a session being cancelled, for example if the author has been taken ill, your money will be refunded.

3.5 Apart from conditions 3.3 and 3.4 above, tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.

3.6 We reserve the right to limit ticket sales to any one individual or a group of related individuals if we believe that the tickets are being bought for resale.

4. Online Bookings Service Provider

4.1 If you make an online booking you will use the service of our third party provider, PayPal. You should view the PayPal website https://www.paypal.com/uk/ for information about usage of this service, for example their User Agreement, Privacy Policy, and Key Payment and Service Information.

4.2 Payments are made to the “Friends of St Leonard’s” and will appear in your statement as “FOSL BKFEST”.

5. Online/Advance Bookings

5.1 Methods for booking in advance are explained on the festival website under the “Tickets” tab.

5.2 There is no booking fee for online bookings nor for any other form of advance booking.

5.3 Tickets ordered online or via a booking form will not be posted or otherwise delivered to you (even though PayPal asks for a delivery address). Instead, you should collect them either from the Festival Box Office during the Festival or from the Advance Box Office if there is one for the event. Details are on the website under the “Tickets” tab. You should bring your proof of order with you when collecting. For tickets ordered online this is your confirmation email from PayPal. For tickets ordered in person, you will be given a receipt.

6. Children and Young People

6.1 Depending on the programme, some sessions in the morning may be designed for children and young people of different age groups. Children are the responsibility of their parent or carer. For any such sessions, adults supervising children are welcome to attend children’s sessions but will need to buy a ticket of their own.

6.2 While children’s sessions are taking place, supervising adults are welcome to remain in the Village Hall or visit the Coffee Dog and enjoy a coffee or other light refreshment.

7. Disabled Access

7.1 St Leonard’s Church has wheelchair access through the main (North) entrance. People with disabilities who have special requirements may wish to contact the organisers in advance.

8. Use of the website

8.1 Use of the website is subject to the disclaimer above.

8.2 Links to third-party websites over which we have no control are provided for information only and do not necessarily imply a recommendation or endorsement.

8.3 You should also refer to our Privacy Policy.
